Bimini Big Game Club

BIMINI

From Indian artifacts to the celebrated novels of Hemmingway, from industry titans to Jimmy Buffett, by most accounts, Bimini is regarded as a magical place. Just a postage stamp size piece of land situated some 50 miles east of South Florida on the edge of the mighty Gulfstream, Bimini is many things to many people, but to everyone who has touched its shores, it is special. From a small settlement known as Alice Town has been created a legendary reputation among adventure travelers, sporting enthusiasts and just about anyone else who imagines life as a modern day beach-bum. With a passport and a sense of adventure, the secret is revealed. You’re on island time, and everyone is just fine with that!

BIG GAME CLUB

Tucked away in a corner of historic Alice Town, you’ll find our resort. Since 1947, the Bimini Big Game Club has been home away from home for visitors from virtually the far corners of the world.

Pass through the arrival gate and enter a world of casual, yet refined service. Choose from one of our 51 rooms and cottages, unpack your bags and abandon the “real world” for a while. Coming by boat? Idle across the emerald green waters of the Alice Town harbourfront, and slip your ship into our 75 slip marina with the help of our knowledgeable and experienced dock services team.

Island – Time. Your time. Relax at the Bimini Big Game Bar & Grill, perched overlooking the marina and tranquil bonefish flats that make Alice Town such a magical setting. Hit the pool, and supplicate yourself to the sunshine. You’re thinking: too bad those funny little paper umbrellas in your favorite frozen drink are not bigger!

Tired of playing in the pool like a dolphin? Drop into the Outfitter Shop and book an encounter with real dolphin. Let our Outfitter staff get you hooked up with some of the best bonefish guides in the Bahamas, or drop you into the gin-clear water for the scuba dive of a lifetime.

It’s all just another day at the Bimini Big Game Club. Come be a part of history, and make some of your own while you’re here!

The Bimini Big Game Club is situated in Alice Town, a Port of Entry for the Bahamas. The Club’s marina is situated on the east side of North Bimini island, in a protected shallow water bay.

From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Dockmaster Robbie Smith, and his staff monitor Channel VHF 16, with the call sign: Bimini Big Game Club.  If arriving after 8:00 PM, please call the Front Desk by phone (242-347-3391) or Channel 16. Prior to clearing, all vessels must check-in on Ch. 16 to confirm slip assignment. After receiving custom and immigration clearance, all vessels must register at the Front Desk.

THE PURSUITS

Fishing – Take your pick – trolling offshore for the “Man in the Blue Suit”, deep dropping on that secret spot for a giant snapper or stalking the “Grey Ghost” across the quite backwater flats of Bmini, there is seldom a day that an angler gets skunked. This is Bimini fishing at its best. Let the Outpost Outfitter connect you with one of the local offshore or backcountry fishing guides to put you and your crew on the fish. Whether it’s for casual fun or serious fishing, it’s all to be had in Bimini.

But we want to remind you that at Outpost Bimini, we take fishing regulations seriously. We’re committed to conservation and hope our guest does as well. It’s important to know and respect the fishing regulations of the Bahamas and Bimini. Sadly, for some anglers catch limits are disregarded, catch and size-limits for conch are ignored, the ‘closed season’ for lobster is considered irrelevant and spearfishing restrictions are for others.

These practices quickly result in an unsustainable fishery. So we ask all our anglers to be good sportsmen and conservationists, and respect the regulations. We don’t want to be a compliance officer, but we must all do our small part in protecting the fisheries for both our kids and local Biminites, and future generations of each to come. Now…let’s go fishin’ !

Diving - For the first time in the diving industry, two of the world’s foremost diving authorities have joined forces to create a truly world class diving experience, in a world class dive destination.

World record holder and scuba legend Neal Watson, with a career devoted to offering best-in-class class recreational diving and Guy Harvey, with his internationally recognized underwater accomplishments in marine research and photography, have created a new and exciting concept in scuba diving.

For the avid diver, it’s an endless debate on the top dive destinations, but what’s not in debate is that Bimini consistently ends up on that list.  Now, enjoy the best diving Bimini has to offer with the dive professionals of the Bimini Big Game Club’s Dive Bimini, a Guy Harvey Outpost Dive Center.  All new equipment, and state of the art compressors.  The famous BImini Blue waters await.

Discovery – Hemingway may be gone, but the sharks that so infuriated him remain…as big and fearsome as they have ever been. Here at Guy Harvey Outpost Bimini, with the help of the folks at the Bimini Shark Lab, we’re taking Shark Encounters to a new level.

Tiger sharks are common in the shallow waters just offshore of Bimini. Reaching lengths in excess of 20-feet, most individuals encountered by divers range between 8 and 12-feet in length. Throw in hammerheads, and a variety of reef sharks, and you have a Shark Encounter in which you’re the star of your very own production of JAWS.

The Shark Lab engages in some of the most pioneering research on the biology of sharks. And the population of sharks in and around the waters of Bimini keeps them plenty busy. Guy Harvey himself has become dedicated to educating the public on the plight of these apex predators from illegal harvesting for shark-fin soup. At the Guy Harvey Outpost BImini, not only will you have the opportunity to test your nerves facing off with these majestic animals, you’ll learn first-hand about the research and conservation efforts underway by the dedicated folks at the Shark Lab and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
